Lower Merion SD buildOn Club Members Honored For 100 Hours Of Service
Over 20 students have helped raise over $60,000 to build schools in impoverished villages.

The Lower Merion School District recognized 33 students who reached the "100 Hours of Service" milestone for the district's buildOn club, according to the district's website
Students honored were Amelia Baker, Zack Bookbinder, Jana Brcek, Becky Calaman, Joey Calaman, James Cato, Michelle Chan, Katelyn Dang, Carly Dessain, Lizzie Diacik, Madison Dillon, Ryan Fisher, Joanna Gerber, Gina Golden, Allyson Greenberg Karla Holmes, Juliette Jenkin, Maddie Kitnick, Audrey Knoll, Sarah Labbad, Sofia Lake, Victoria Lee, Olivia Malloy, Jenny Margolies, Sarah McConnell, Arnold Meraz, Eva Nates, Leah Owen-Oliner, Barbara Peck, Hadi Rizvi, Kelsey Stanton, Amy Xi, and Robbie Zorc.
The district said of the 33 students, 15 had previously met the 100 Hours of Service milestone, and 21 of the 33 had previously participated raised between $65,000 and $90,000 to build schools in rural, impoverished villages throughout the world through buildOn's Trek Prgogram, which buildO says are "transformational global service learning opportunities for students and educators where participants immerse themselves in in the local culture and customs of a rural village, live with host families and engage in service by physically helping to construct a buildOn primary school."

High School Principal Sean Hughes congratulated and thanked the students for their hard work and commitment to the buildOn club. Jenn Lishansky, buildOn's Community Engagement Manager, also thanked the students for all of their outstanding service-related efforts both at home and abroad.
buildOn is a non-profit organization that runs after school programs with a mission to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service through learning programs in some of the nation’s toughest high schools and by building schools in some of the world’s poorest countries.
