Lower Merion Teachers Union Collecting Food For Needy Families

With Thanksgiving around the corner, the Lower Merion Education association is collecting food for donation to local families in need.

ARDMORE, PA — As Thanksgiving approaches, some area families may not may the ability to celebrate the holiday in full Thanksgiving style. Luckily, the Lower Merion Education Association is collecting food for donation to area families in need.

The teachers union is hosting a food drive now through Friday, Nov. 15.

All items can be dropped off in Room 328 at Lower Merion High School.

The following items are requested for donation:

  • instant mashed potatoes
  • canned cranberry sauce
  • canned yams
  • canned green beans, carrots, and corn
  • boxed stuffing mix
  • jars of turkey gravy or dried gravy mix packets
  • canned pumpkin filling
  • pie crust mix or pre-made non-perishable pie crust
  • evaporated milk
  • cornbread mix
  • small vegetable oil
  • large aluminum foil roasting pans

Gift cards to area grocery stores are also welcome for donation. $20 to $25 cards should be able to cover the cost of turkeys, according to the union.

Additionally, the union is asking for items such as Thanksgiving-themed napkins, plates, and other wares to give families a boost in the Thanksgiving spirit.

All donated items will be given to district families
