Lower Merion Ultimate Frisbee Teams Win State Championships

Both the boys and girls ultimate frisbee teams at Lower Merion High School are state champs!

LOWER MERION, PA -- Both the boys and girls ultimate frisbee teams at Lower Merion High School are state champs.

The school district announced the results in a recent news release after the win this weekend:

The Lower Merion Girls Ultimate team, known as Lady Baba, captured their title after recording a perfect 7-0 record throughout the championship weekend, ultimately defeating Fox Chapel by a score of 15-7 in the finals. The Aces were led by seniors Margo Urheim and Deha Behar. The LMHS Girls Ultimate team has now won a total of five State Championships since the program’s inception, including three of the last four state crowns.

The Lower Merion Boys Ultimate Frisbee squad enjoyed an equally outstanding performance completing their perfect 7-0 weekend with a 15-13 victory against Pennsbury High School in the finals. Pennsbury had won the state championship six times in the last decade and had provided two of the Aces’ only three losses on the season, so Lower Merion’s performance in the finals was considered a substantial upset. The Aces were led by senior captains Eddie Scott and Griffin Kao.

This is the first ultimate frisbee state championship won by Lower Merion.
