Suspect In December 2020 Killing Still At Large: Delco DA

Kysir Brokenbough, 20, of Claymont, Delaware, is wanted in connection with a fatal December 2020 shooting in Chester.

CHESTER, PA — An 18-year-old man is in custody and another man is still at large in connection with a fatal Delaware County shooting.

Authorities Tuesday said Anthony Jordan, 18, aka “Backdoor _Phat," has been arrested and charged in the December 2020 murder of Zamir Abdullah, 19. A second suspect, Kysir Brokenbough, 20, of Claymont, Delaware, is still at-large, authorities said.

District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said Jordan is charged with murder of the first-, second-, and third- degree, as well as conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault and related firearms charges. In addition, he has been charged with attempted murder of the first degree, robbery and aggravated assault in connection with a second and third victim who were injured in the incident.

The incident occurred on Dec. 9, 2020.

Police were called to the area of 500 W. Sixth Street in Chester City for an overturned vehicle with one person trapped in the vehicle. The 911 callers indicated that passengers had fled the scene

The driver of the vehicle was unresponsive and had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The victim, later identified as Abdullah, was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The crime scene at 500 W. 6th Street was investigated, and an approximately one-pound package of marijuana was found on the floor of the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Surveillance video was obtained for the area around the crime scene before, during and after the incident.

The footage captured two suspects walking toward the victim’s car and, upon reaching it, taking positions on opposite sides of the car.

After the shooting occurred, the two suspects ran north on the 600 block of Butler Street; the victim’s vehicle traveled east on W. 6th Street, where it crashed.

Additional video footage was obtained which allowed detectives to track the movements of both suspects prior to the shooting.

The surveillance video was shown to multiple witnesses, and through further interviews detectives were able to identify the suspects as Jordan and Brokenbough.

Additional forensic investigation of a victim’s cell phone, various social media accounts, and witness statements confirmed Jordan's identity.

Members of the public are asked to help police find Brokenbough. He's described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He frequents areas in and around Claymont, Delaware. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Victor Heness of the Chester Police Department at 610-724-4288.

As officers were tending to the victim, other officers were flagged down by two people in the area of West Ninth and Barclay Streets. Both were hurt, with one suffering from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and foot. They were taken to Crozer- Chester Medical Center for treatment, and both victims survived their injuries.

Jordan is being held without bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility. His preliminary hearing date is March 2.
