Montgomery County Community College: Four MCCC Students Receive Lockheed Martin 2021 Vocational Training Scholarships

Montgomery County Community College is proud to announce that four students received
Lockheed Martin’s 2021 Vocational Training Scholarships.

The students were among 150 students from across the country selected to receive Lockheed
Martin’s Vocational Training Scholarship, which provides each recipient with a $6,600
stipend to cover the cost of tuition. The MCCC students are Taylor Bellegue, who is
studying Computer Science; Albert Colon, Information Technology; James Laskey, Computer
Science; and a fourth student, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Lockheed Martin launched the Vocational Training Scholarship program to support students of all ages
who are pursuing associate degrees, credit-bearing certificates or industry-recognized
credentials in specific disciplines at an accredited vocational technical, trade school
or two-year community college, according to its website. Lockheed Martin awarded the
second annual STEM and Vocational Training Scholarships with the coordination of Scholarship America.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a U.S. citizen and either a
high school graduate, graduating senior or undergraduate student. They currently must
be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited vocational technical school, trade
school, two-year community college or state college for 2021-22. In addition, they
must be pursuing an associate degree, credit-bearing certificate or industry-recognized
credential in the areas of computer & information sciences, engineering, engineering
technologies, mechanic & repair technologies or precision production.

Besides the Vocational Training Scholarship, Lockheed Martin awarded STEM Scholarships
to 200 students who ae studying engineering or computer science at a four-year college
or university.
