Montgomery County To Offer Free Child Safety Seat Inspections, Sept. 19 - 25
Three out of four child restraints are not used properly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The leading cause of death for children ages three to six and eight to 14 is motor vehicle accidents, according to information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In many of those cases, which take thousands of lives a year in the United States, simple prevention measures can make all of the difference when administered properly.
As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 19 – 25, Montgomery County is offering free child safety seat inspection stations for local parents and caregivers, according to a press release from Lower Merion Township.

Despite laws in all 50 states mandating their use, the NHTSA estimates that roughly three out of every four child restrains are not used properly. Trained inspectors will be on hand at several locations throughout the county to ensure the safety devices are in good working order, as well as to demonstrate their proper use.
