Montgomery-Old Lancaster Road Intersection Getting $50K Upgrade

The Lower Merion Township intersection will get some new improvements thanks to a Montco 2040 Implementation Grant, the county announced.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – The intersection at Montgomery Avenue and Old Lancaster Road in Lower Merion Township is going to be getting some improvements thanks to Montgomery County.

The county announced Thursday, May 17 that a $50,000 Montco 2040 Grant has been awarded to the improvement project.

The intersection will be resigned using the funds.

The redesign includes removing the right-turn-only lane, which will give pedestrians direct access to the signalized crossing.

Additionally, the grant request will provide funding to build a rain garden infrastructure in what previously was a concrete traffic island which will improving pedestrian safety, aesthetics, and stormwater management at a busy commercial intersection, the county said.
