National Night Out Celebrating 39 Years In Wynnewood Aug 9

The 39th annual event will feature music, food, Lower Merion Police, Fire and Narberth Ambulance, and safety information and displays.

WYNNEWOOD, PA — Tuesday, Aug. 9 will mark 39 years of the National Night Out event in Wynnewood, where the now-national event began.

The 2022 National Night Out event in Wynnewood will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 in the back of the Wynnewood Shopping Center.

Traditionally held on the first Tuesday each August, this year’s event in Lower Merion had to be pushed back a week for logistical reasons.

The event, which is being held in partnership with the National Association of Town Watch and Lower Merion Community Watch, will feature live music, food, rides, carnival games, Lower Merion Police, Fire and Narberth Ambulance, face painting, a dunk tank, clowns, moon bounce, roving entertainment including clowns and magicians, and safety information and displays from many area nonprofits and businesses.

This will be the 39th Annual National Night Out, which will involve millions of people from 16,500 communities across the country from all 50 states.

National Night Out creator, Matt Peskin of Wynnewood, will be at the Lower Merion event.

National Night out is aims to heighten crime prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and; send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Parking will be available throughout the Wynnewood Shopping Center.
