National Night Out In Lower Merion Canceled Due To Coronavirus

For the first time in decades, the Lower Merion National Night Out event has been canceled, with coronavirus being the reason.

WYNNEWOOD, PA — The National Night Out event in Lower Merion Township has been canceled due to the coronavirus.

National Night Out was set to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in the Wynnewood Shopping Center.

The event was initially scheduled for August but was pushed back to October.

This marks the first time in decades that the popular event in Lower Merino Township has been canceled.

"We are all very disappointed but bringing that many together at this time just doesn’t make sense," Wynnewood resident and National Night Out founder Matt Peskin said. "We will be back bigger than ever next Aug. 3."

Peskin said National Night Out 2020 will still be held around the Philadelphia region and across the nation, but the activities will be scaled back and participants will closely follow CDC guidelines.
