Police: Ardmore Burglaries Continue, Three More Reported, Two During Daylight Hours

Over a dozen homes have been burglarized in Ardmore and the surrounding area since mid-November.

After a three day stretch with  from Nov. 17 - 20, and an eighth the week after, Lower Merion Police reported another round of burglaries in the past week, according to police reports released on Monday, Dec. 13.

Sometime overnight on Monday, Dec. 6, a home on the 100 block of Cricket Avenue was burglarized, according to the police. Like , electronics were taken from the home, including a laptop and a TV, police said. There were no signs of forced entry, and no suspect was seen, according to the police.

Two additional burglaries occurred on Saturday, Dec. 11 in the afternoon, according to the police. The burglaries were the first to have reportedly occurred during daylight hours in Ardmore since the recent burglary spree began on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Sometime between 2 and 2:20 p.m., a residence on the 100 block of Simpson Road in Ardmore was entered forcibly through a rear window, according to police. The burglary was only the second reported where force was used to gain entry into the home, police said, however, the two reports of force were among the four most recent burglaries.

Several electronics were taken from the house, according to the report, and no one was seen or heard.

Shortly after the burglary occurred on Simpson Road, another burglary occurred on the 100 block of Cricket Avenue, according to the police. The home was entered between 3:25 and 5:50 p.m., and electronics were taken, police said. Police reported no signs of forced entry and no suspects were seen.

"Township residents are advised to secure their residence at all times and to use an alarm system if they have one installed," police said in a November alert in response to recent burglaries.

Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity or information about the burglaries to the Lower Merion Police Department at 610-649-1000 or by calling 9-1-1.

All of the burglaries are currently under investigation.
