Officials in Montgomery County expressed enthusiasm over the news.

“It is a tremendous honor to have the Pope visit our region, but it is even more exciting that Montgomery County will be the only suburban county he will visit during his stay,” said Josh Shapiro, chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners. “This is a once in a lifetime experience, and Montgomery County is honored to be hosting His Holiness, if only for a short time.”
