Principal Chosen For Lower Merion's Virtual School Program

Jeffrey Hunter ​will leave his postilion as Bala Cynwyd Middle School's​ assistant principal​ to lead the fully virtual LMSD@Home program.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Bala Cynwyd Middle School's assistant principal has been chosen to lead the Lower Merion School District's fully virtual instruction in the 2020-21 school year.

The district announced Bala Cynwyd Middle School Assistant Principal Jeffrey Hunter has been tapped to be the principal for LMSD@Home.

LMSD@Home will operate as a school without walls within the district, following the prescribed LMSD curriculum, with instruction provided by LMSD teachers and staff.

Students in Kindergarten through eighth grade will work with teachers specifically assigned to LMSD@Home, while high school students will work with their assigned teachers from Harriton or Lower Merion.

Hunter is leaving the assistant principal position to take over LMSD@Home.

He has been the school's assistant principal since 2013 and before that was a principal of grades ranging from K-12 at Math Science and Technology Community Charter School in Philadelphia. He began his educational career as a social studies teacher.

Orientation sessions for Kindergarten through eighth grade students enrolled in LMSD@Home will be held via Zoom at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday with Hunter hosting the sessions. Information for these sessions was shared with families in an email.

LMSD@Home high school students should follow the orientation schedules shared by their high school principals.
