'Radnor Week' At LMHS Kicks Off Monday Ahead of 121st Match Up​

Lower Merion and Radnor have been battling on gridiron for more than a century, and school spirit is key aspect to the storied rivalry.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – The storied Lower Merion v. Radnor football game is coming up on us, and Lower Merion High School is repeating for a week of school spirit festivities to rally around the Aces football team ahead of the longstanding rivalry gridiron showdown.

While Radnor High School participates in "LM Week," Lower Merion High School will host Radnor Week to celebrate the 121 years of rivalry with their Main Line neighbors.

The 121st football match up is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, but Radnor Week kicks off Monday, Oct. 30.

See the week's events below:

  • Monday, Oct. 30: Pajama Day
    • After school, the classes will also compete in Hallway Wars as each grade will decorate their assigned portion of the building under the overarching theme of "Aces Out and About."
  • Tuesday, Oct. 31: Twin Day
    • Hallway Wars continue
  • Wednesday, Nov. 1: Jersey Day
  • Thursday, Nov 2: USA Day
    • Voting for the Homecoming King and Queen will take place during advisory.
  • Friday, Nov 3: Black Out (Beat Radnor), Pep Rally, & 11th Annual Maroon & White Game
    • The Pep Rally will begin at the conclusion of set 6 and students will go to the Main Gym with their set 6 teacher. Students should leave their book bags in class during the Pep Rally and will be able to return to the classrooms before being dismissed to the buses.
    • After school, the 11th Annual Maroon & White Game begins. Following dismissal from school, students and faculty are invited to Butcher Field (located behind the high school) for the on-field action as well as a barbecue for all participating students/faculty and all those in attendance.

Students are encouraged to be creative, have fun and show their Lower Merion pride during Radnor Week.

The district said however, all costumes and outfits must be school appropriate.
