LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A few Lower Merion Township boards and councils have vacant spots that need to be filled.

The township is looking for qualified residents to serve on its Environmental Advisory Council, Health Advisory Council, and Historical Architectural Review Board.

Qualified residents should complete the Boards & Commissions Application Form then send the completed application and a current resume to Jody L. Kelley, Township Secretary, 75 E. Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003 or by email to jkelley@lowermerion.org by Monday, June 22.

Environmental Advisory Council

The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is composed of seven residents of the township who serve four-year terms of office. The EAC provides advice to the Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission for the promotion and conservation of natural resources and for the protection and improvement of the quality of the environment within the township. Experience in the development of environmentally sensitive land or technical training in the environmental sciences or energy conservation is preferred but not required. The EAC typically meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. More information about the EAC can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 13:Environmental Advisory Council.

Health Advisory Council

The Health Advisory Council (HAC) is composed of five to seven residents of the township who serve four-year terms of office. The HAC recommends plans and programs to the Board of Commissioners for the protection of the public health of residents within the township and also advises Township officials concerning matters of public health. Background, interest, or experience in public health is preferred but not required. The HAC typically meets on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. More information about the HAC can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 16:Health Advisory Council.

Historical Architectural Review Board

The Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) is composed of nine members who are residents of Lower Merion Township or have an ownership interest in property in the township. These individuals serve five-year terms of office. The HARB gives counsel to the Board of Commissioners regarding the advisability of issuing permits required to be issued with respect to properties located in the Local Historic Districts. Historic preservation experience or experience working with historic buildings is preferred but not required.
