Rewind: Taps & Prayer, Memorial Day 2011

There's no more poignant moment than the playing of "Taps" at the conclusion of a memorial service, whether on a day of general remembrance like Memorial Day or at the funeral of a service member.

Except perhaps a well-said prayer from the heart.

Those gathered in the heat at St. Paul's Cemetery in Ardmore last Monday got both, with a mournful bugle from Christine Emery, a trumpeter and jazz musician at Lower Merion High School, and comforting, wise words from Rev. Albert Johnson, of Bethel AME Church.
