See Details Of Lower Merion SD's New Digital Learning Program

LMSD@Home includes both synchronous and asynchronous learning and varies from the Lower Merion Virtual Academy in a few ways.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District is offering another way for students to learn virtually amid the coronavirus pandemic.

District families can now sign up to have their students learn through LMSD@Home, a fully-digital learning option for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

LMSD@Home will be very similar to how students learn during the district's remote-only learning period, which will last until at least Oct. 5. However, the district said modifications may be made to the schedule and course offerings.

This model of digital learning is different from the Lower Merion Virtual Academy, which is being operating in conjunction with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit's MVP program and relies heavily on asynchronous learning. Read more about the virtual academy online here.

Classes will be taught synchronously and asynchronously in the LMSD@Home program. Specials — such as music, art, and Foreign Language in the Elementary School — will be offered based on teacher availability.

LMSD@Home is available throughout the entire 2020-2021 school year to district families who do not want their students to attend in-person classes, if and when in-person learning resumes.

Families are asked to commit their student to LMSD@Home for the entire school year. Registering for LMSD@Home may be possible later in the school year, but that option is not guaranteed, the district said.

Registration for LMSD@Home is available online here. Registration is requested before Aug. 17.

The district has a web page dedicated to frequently asked questions about LMSD@Home online here.
