LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Coronavirus vaccinations are ramping up in Montgomery County, but what's the virus's impact in Lower Merion these days?

According to Montgomery County data, Lower Merion Township has the second-lowest incidence rate of all Montgomery County municipalities.

For the week ending April 8, Lower Merion's coronavirus case incidence rate was 80.2 per 100,000 people. East Greenville has the county's lowest rate of 67.61 per 100,000 people.

As of Friday, Lower Merion has seen a total of 2,893 coronavirus cases and 106 coronavirus-related deaths.

Lower Merion residents who contract the virus have an average of 42-and-a-half years old, and the average age of Lower Merion residents who succumb to the virus are 84-and-a-half years old.

Of those 2,893 cases, 1508 have been women and 1,372 have been men. The county lists 13 cases as unknown gender.

As for deaths in Lower Merion, 62 are women and 44 are men.

Montgomery County as a whole has seen 54,687 cases of the coronavirus and 1,275 coronavirus-related deaths as of Friday.

State data shows 194,814 Montgomery County residents have been partially vaccinated and 144,068 residents have been fully vaccinated.
