St Joe's Student Hit By Alleged DUI Driver On City Ave

The student was crossing City Avenue when she was struck Wednesday night. She is in critical condition, reports state.

A St. Joseph's University student is in critical condition after being struck by an alleged DUI driver Wednesday night, according university officials and media reports.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on the 5600 block of City Avenue, according to St. Joe's officials.

A 20-year-old female St. Joseph's junior was taken to Lankenau Medical Center, where she is in critical condition after being struck while crossing the road, according to CBS Philadelphia.

6ABC reports the driver, who police said appeared to be impaired, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Police also found what they believed to be marijuana in the driver's vehicle.
