Student Journalist Creates Change In LMSD
Ricky Sayer noticed buses were not coming to complete stops when taking students home from some of the district's schools.
ARDMORE, PA – Recent Lower Merion School District graduate Ricky Sayers has been the go-to student for news in the district. The former Harriton High School student truly left an impact on the district, as his last investigative report ended with real change.
Sayer noticed buses were not coming to a complete stop at Harriton High School when leaving school grounds in the afternoon with students aboard.
Sayer released his seven-minute report on his YouTube page, Ricky Reports, on June 7.

The title? "57% of School Buses Run Stop Sign at Harriton High School and Other LMSD Schools."
After filming buses leaving Harriton and other Lower Merion School district schools, examining his findings, and speaking with district officials, Sayer's report had a real impact on the district.

Lower Merion School District Transportation Supervisor Uldis Vilcins told Sayer that the footage from Sayer's report will be used in bus driver training.
"We will make every effort to ensure that all drivers are observing safe and responsible driving practices," Vilcins told the Philly Voice.
