Temple To Provide Coronavirus Vaccines On Limited Scale

The university will begin offering vaccines next week, but on a very limited scale to only a select group of the school community.

PHILADELPHIA — Temple University will soon be administering coronavirus vaccines, albeit in a limited capacity.

The university Monday announced it is working with the city to distribute vaccines to those who meet city eligibility guidelines. The city is in Phase 1b for establishing who gets priority for the vaccines.

Vaccinations will begin the week of March 29 on the main campus and will operate two days a week.

Due to city requirements, Temple can only offer coronavirus vaccines to employees and students who are residents of the city for now.

Eligible Temple faculty, staff and students who live in the city will receive vaccines on one day and eligible city residents will be vaccinated on the other. All vaccination will be done by invitation and appointment only.

Walk-up appointments will not be accepted.

Vaccines are being provided to Temple by the city in limited quantities, so it will take some time to accommodate all who want a vaccine.

"You should not rely solely on Temple for a COVID-19 vaccination. For the time being, Temple will receive a very limited supply of vaccines," Temple Health Services Senior Director Mark Denys saod. "We urge all members of the university community to also sign up with their local communities and health providers to obtain vaccination. If you have already been vaccinated, please upload your vaccine information in the patient health portal."

To be invited for inoculation at Temple, faculty, staff and students must complete the vaccine interest form.

Vaccine supplies remain very limited, so please ensure that the information provided on this form is as accurate as possible.

Faculty, staff and students who complete the form will be invited to make an appointment once they are deemed eligible according to city criteria and will be prioritized according to their level of risk.
