Traffic To Stop Periodically On I-76 in Lower Merion Next Week

PennDOT is planning periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages on Interstate 76 in both directions next week in the Lower Merion area.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Drivers will be stopped periodically on Interstate 76 in Lower Merion overnight next week, PennDOT said.

According to PennDOT, periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages are planned in both directions between the Belmont Avenue and City Avenue on Friday next week.

The stoppages will occur between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3.

These are to allow crews to repair Intelligent Transportation Systems

The repair is part of the recently completed project to install Variable Speed Limit and Queue Detection and Warning systems along 14 miles of the road.

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route or allow more time for travel in the work area because significant backups and slowdowns may occur.

The work schedule is weather dependent.
