Unlocked Vehicles Lead To Thefts: Lower Merion Crime Blotter

Lower Merion Township Polices said between Nov. 14 and Nov. 19, six vehicles were stolen in Bala Cynwyd, Wynnewood, Penn Wynne.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion issued details on various crimes that have occurred across the township in recent days.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Nov. 13 and Nov. 19.

Nov. 19

  • Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that their Honda was stolen from the driveway of their residence sometime overnight. The Honda was reported to be unlocked with the keys left inside. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Ardmore) - The victim reported that their unlocked Toyota was entered and gone through while shopping in the business district during this evening. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A security monitoring company notified police of suspicious actors entering vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers found a Nissan with a broken out rear driver's side window. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A resident notified police of suspicious actors around vehicles parked along the street. Upon police arrival, a vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Multiple unlocked vehicles were found parked along the street, and a Toyota was found to be rummaged through. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - While investigating the above theft, an unlocked Nissan was discovered parked on another street close to the initial incident. The Nissan appeared to have been entered and gone through. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that their Infinity was stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex in the overnight hours. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Burglary and Theft from Vehicle (Penn Valley) - The victim reported that cash and credit cards were taken from a handbag located near the rear door of their property and that their unlocked Kia was entered and gone through overnight. It appears that the actor(s) entered the residence through an unlocked rear door and did not proceed further into the residence. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Penn Valley) - While investigating the above burglary and theft from vehicle, officers were notified of an additional unlocked Toyota which was entered and gone through overnight. The investigation is continuing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Penn Valley) - While investigating the above burglary and theft from vehicle, officers were notified of an additional unlocked Honda which was entered and gone through overnight. The investigation is continuing.
  • Theft (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that a package containing multiple cell phones was stolen from their front porch sometime this afternoon. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

Nov. 17

  • Theft from Vehicle (Bryn Mawr) - The victim late reported that on November 10th, 2024 their unlocked Ford was entered in the overnight hours while parked in the driveway of their residence. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

Nov. 16

  • Theft of Vehicle (Penn Wynne) - The victim reported that their Kia was stolen from the roadway in front of their residence in the overnight hours. Broken glass was discovered in the roadway where the vehicle had been parked. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Nov. 15

  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from their Ford overnight while parked in the parking lot of the apartment complex where they spent the night. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from their Ford overnight while parked in the parking lot of their apartment complex. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim late reported that on Nov. 14 someone attempted to enter their Acura while it was parked in the parking lot of their business complex. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Attempted Theft of Vehicle (Wynnewood) - The victim reported that they overheard their car alarm going off and observed an actor running away from their Kia. The vehicle had a rear passenger side window broken out and the steering column and ignition were tampered with. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

  • Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that their Infiniti was stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex sometime during the day. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - The victim reported that their son's Infiniti was stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex sometime during the day. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Nov. 13

  • Theft from Vehicle (Merion Station) - The victim late reported that their unlocked Honda was entered while parked in the driveway of their residence in the overnight hours of November 9th into the 10th. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
  • Theft (Merion Station) - The victim reported that a package was stolen from the front porch of their residence after being delivered the previous evening. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
