The committee will evaluate the ideas that have already been proposed, brainstorm possible additional concepts and create a process to bring an appropriate and meaningful memorial to fruition, according to the district.
The district said committee members are expected to include members of the Hughes Family, students, staff, alumni, parents, guardians and community members who were connected to Hughes in a meaningful way.

Those interested in serving on the committee can fill out an application online here.
Applications will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 11.
Lower Merion High School administrators and the Hughes Family will review applicants and aim to include members who represent a cross-section of the past and present LMHS community, with a variety of skill sets and backgrounds.
Preference will be given to applicants with personal connections to Hughes and to those with experience in fundraising for and executing similar projects.
The committee is expected to meet several times a month through the completion of the tribute project.
