'The Wedding Singer' Comes To Lower Merion

The famed incarnation of the 1998 comedic film featuring Adam Sandler is coming to the local stage.

Narberth Community Theatre’s musical production of The Wedding Singer opened on Friday, March 4th, at its permanent home, the Overbrook Presbyterian Church.

Director Tom Stumme, choreographer Jenna Michael, music director Raquel Garcia, and accompanist Judy Large lead the production team.

The Wedding Singer runs March 4th through March 19th, with Friday and Saturday performances beginning at 8pm and Sunday performances beginning at 3pm.

Ticket prices range from $16.00-$19.00 and can be purchased via the website here.

The Wedding Singer is based on the popular 1998 comedic film of the same name in which Adam Sandler starred as Robbie Hart, a loveable wedding singer who struggles to move on in his life after being left at the alter by his fiancé.

He is befriended by Julia, a sweet waitress who loves love and cannot wait to be married someday. Robbie and Julia must deal with their romantic connection in the face of competing romantic interests, and they are helped along the way by a quirky and fun group of friends that include Robbie’s eccentric bandmates and his rapping Grandma Rosie.

The Broadway production opened April 27, 2006 and has enjoyed two national tours. It was nominated for five Tony Awards and eight Drama Desk Awards. The music is by Matthew Sklar, lyrics are by Chad Beguelin, and the book is by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.

The cast of Narberth Community Theatre’s The Wedding Singer is led by Ben Long (Robbie) with Alison Kachnoskie (Julia), Chris Batholomew (George), Vince Vuono (Sammy), Meghan Chambers (Holly), Rob Frankel (Glen), and Renee Grant (Grandma Rosie).

Narberth Community Theatre (NCT) has been entertaining the Philadelphia and Mainline communities for well over 50 years.
