Bala Cynwyd Saks Fifth Avenue Incident Leads To Felony Charges For N.Y. Man

The Brooklyn, N.Y. man is behind bars after seven felony charges were filed against him.

A Brooklyn, New York, man is in the Montgomery County Jail after allegedly attempting to use fake IDs at the Bala Cynwyd Saks Fifth Avenue store recently. The man is facing seven felony changes in connection with the March 29 incident.

According to court records, Michael Anthony Johnson, 30, of Brooklyn, New York, has been charged with two felony counts of identity theft, two felony counts of conspiracy to commit identity theft, felony credit card fraud, felony conspiracy to commit credit card fraud, felony conspiracy to commit theft by deception, and misdemeanor theft by deception.

Johnson was held at the Montgomery County Jail after failing to post $5,000 bail on March 30.

According to Main Line Media News, Johnson was arrested on March 29 after allegedly attempting to use fake IDs at the high end retailer.

The outlet reports store employees were suspicious of Johnson and a woman with him and when workers told him they needed to verify his identity, he left the store.

Lower Merion Police then stopped his vehicle and found he was using fake IDs to make purchases, according to the outlet.

Johnson will appear for his preliminary hearing on April 12.
