Speaker: History: “Holocaust Presentation” by Sydney Wolfson:&nbsp;TWO Locations: Monday, May 11 at 10:30 AM at Narberth Borough Hall AND Thursday, May 14 at 1:00 PM at Ashbridge House in Rosemont. Last month, Bryn Mawr native and Harriton High School Senior Sydney Wolfson journeyed to Poland for the annual “March of the Living” a week of Holocaust education and memory that included a literal walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau on April 16, Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day.&nbsp; Over a 10-day period Sydney toured various locations in Poland alongside Holocaust survivor Sami Steigmann, hearing Sami’s tales and seeing for herself the places where those stories took place.&nbsp;
Now, on two separate dates in May, Sydney comes to New Horizons to share Sami’s stories with a new audience and to discuss her own experiences during this year’s march.&nbsp; Join Sydney and New Horizons on May 11 at Narberth Borough Hall and on May 14 at Ashbridge House to learn of the march and its goals, to share personal tales and memories of the Holocaust era, and to reflect on the lessons learned in the aftermath of this tragic time in the world’s history, and how those lessons can be applied today in each person’s daily life.

Come dance the cachucha and join The Savoy Company in celebrating our 125th anniversary year with Gilbert &amp; Sullivan’s uplifting operetta, The Gondoliers! Set in Venice and the fictional kingdom of Barataria, the plot centers on two gondoliers, Marco and Giuseppe, who discover that one of them is the rightful king but cannot determine which. They agree to rule jointly until the true monarch can be identified, allowing Gilbert to satirize monarchy, aristocracy, and British political institutions. The show is especially noted for its unusually warm tone and emphasis on equality, reflecting contemporary late-Victorian debates about class and governance.
Through its witty dialogue, lively ensemble numbers, and playful mockery of aristocracy and political systems, the operetta celebrates equality while poking fun at rigid class distinctions and the pretensions of monarchy.
Premiered in 1889, The Gondoliers is the twelfth collaboration between librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. The show ran for 554 performances, making it one of the duo’s most successful later works.
Introducing Stage Director Grant Mech and Choreographer Rebecca Malcolm-Naib, whose inventive vision brings The Gondoliers to life in a masterful comedy that sparkles under the outstanding baton of Music Director Peter Hilliard and a superb professional orchestra. Produced by William Kader, the production is enhanced by a striking, professionally designed set and delightfully charming costumes.
