Former Main Line Commissioner Waives Arraignment In Indecent Assault Case: Report
Spingler is accused of fondling a 103-year-old Wayne Nursing Home patient that is his mother in law.

William Spingler, former Radnor Township Commissioner, waived his arraignment in the case that alleges he fondled a 103-year-old resident – who is his mother in law – at Wayne Nursing Home in December.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports Spingler waived his formal arraignment Wednesday in a Delaware County Court.
With Spingler waiving his arraignment, his three counts of indecent assault of a person with a mental disability will carry to court.

The waiver is not surprising, as Spingler denied the allegations in January, saying he often visits his mother in law shows her affection through hugs and kisses.
"I wasn't sexually assaulting my mother-in-law, who I respect and love," Spingler said. "My intent was to hug her and love her and let her know I was there. That's all I was doing."

The woman is the mother of Spingler's late wife and Spingler said he cared for her, letting her live with him, before her dementia became too much and she was moved to the nursing home.
Spingler, 73 of Paoli, was arrested Dec. 23 after nursing home employees claimed to have seen him with his hand on the 103-year-old dementia patient's chest.
Police said Spingler allegedly assaulted the woman on Dec. 15, Dec. 17, and Dec. 23.
