Former Narberth Borough President, Lower Merion Judge Dies At 70
Kathleen Valentine was a staple in the Narberth and Lower Merion communities, serving on various boards, being a district judge, and more.
NARBERTH, PA — Kathleen Valentine, former Narberth Borough Council President and District Justice, has died.
Valentine, a long time resident of the Narberth and Lower Merion areas, died on Sept. 6. She was 70 years old.
According to Narberth Borough, Valentine had more than 25 years of experience in public service.

She was a member of the Narberth Planning Commission prior to being elected to three terms to Narberth Borough Council, where she served as president for four years.
While on the council, she was a proponent of the Narberth Downtown Improvement project, was integral in the Narberth Centennial Celebration as well as the Narberth Millennium Celebration, and worked to establish the Narberth Industrial Development Authority.

She was later appointed by Gov. Tom Ridge the District Justice position in Lower Merion and Narberth in 2001. She held that position until 2015.
Valentine was very active in the community, serving on various boards such as the Republican Women of the Main Line, the Narberth Civic Association, and the Lower Merion-Narberth Watershed Commission.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Matt; her children Moira and Matt; grandchildren, Kate and Caroline; sister Maureen Hicks and brothers Neil McDonnell and Patrick McDonnell.
Services for Valentine include a viewing from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m., on Saturday, both following social distancing protocol, at Saint Margaret’s church in Narberth. The service can be accessed live via Zoom online here.
