Man Dies After Fall Into Lower Merion Trash Pit During Fall Clean-Up Event
The 68-year-old man was unloading trash from a U-Haul truck when he fell about 45 feet at the township's Public Works Complex Saturday.

A 68-year-old Lower Merion resident died Saturday after falling into a refuse pit during a township-sponsored Fall Clean-up event, police confirmed.
According to Lower Merion Police, the man was unloading trash from a U-Haul truck when he fell about 45 feet at the township's Koegel Public Works Complex on N. Woodbine Avenue. The incident happened just before 1 p.m.
Fire and ambulance personnel from throughout the Township and Montgomery County responded, and were able to remove the victim, who has not yet been identified.

He was taken by Narberth Ambulance to the Lankenau Hospital Trauma Center, where he died at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The Fall Clean-up Event was cancelled for the rest of the day Saturday but will reopen Sunday at 8 a.m.
