WHITEHALL, PA - An elderly man escaped unharmed Monday when his car caught fire in the garage of his Child Drive home, setting the house ablaze. Elmer Matto, 93, alerted authorities to the fire and was able to get out of the home with his dog.
Whitehall Fire Chief Eric Harris told KDKA-TV that the cause of the fire, which broke out around 5 p.m. and badly damaged the home, remains under investigation.
Matto has lived in the home since 1960.
