BALDWIN 15U BATTLE AND TAKE 2ND IN HOME TOURNAMENT

Grab your tissues, it is my last blog for GBWAA Girl's Softball Corner, as the 2013 All-Star season comes to a close.

The Baldwin 15Us ended their All-Star season on their home field, losing to Plum and finishing 2nd in the tournament.  As championship Sunday began, the 15U ladies began their day at 8:00 a.m., digging themselves out of the losers bracket with an admirable display of determination.  Winning the first 3 games of the day brought them to the championship game which began at 6:00 p.m.  It was a long, hot day in the sun, and Baldwin actually lost one of their starting infielders as a result of exhaustion.  Unfortunately, she was unable to play in the championship game.  But, the ladies in purple rallied until the end and were extremely proud of their 2nd place finish.

When asked her thoughts about the tournament that she hosted, All-Star Manager Josetta Daumit states, "I just want to send out another HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make this past weekend's tournament as successful as it was. Colleen Davis, Carrie Radacsi and Steve, Michael Crough....I could not have pulled this off without all of your help and support. And to all the parents who dedicated their time, their encouragement for their kids and the food you all made for this weekend, I thank you as well. I'm sad to see this season end, but incredibly proud to be able to say that I was a part of coaching and mentoring these young girls, and I am looking forward to watching them all grow into the beautiful, smart, caring, wonderful young women they are on their way to becoming. Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of this, I loved every minute of it! - Mama Jo"

Overall, it was a tournament filled with days of nail-biting excitement, a few 911 calls, amazing food,  great music, but most importantly the overall spirit of softball that unites all players, parents and fans.

To the players, parents, volunteers and fans of this great organization:  Thank you.  GBWAA will always be successful because of your unwavering dedication and commitment.

On a personal note, and as it is my last blog, I would like thank the people in this league who have guided and supported me throughout this past season as a manager.  You know who you are, and I could never have done it without you.  You are the best!!!

So, goodbye to the 2013 season until next year.  This is T. Macek signing off.  Peace out.....
