Baldwin High School To Hold Inaugural Mini-THON

The all-night event will raise money to help combat pediatric cancer.

BALDWIN, PA - The Baldwin-Whitehall School District holds its inaugural Mini-THON on Friday, joining about 70 other school districts across the country in raising money to help combat pediatric cancer. The event is modeled after Penn State’s annual THON fundraiser.

Baldwin High School students have raised donations for the Mini-THON and will take part in the dance marathon beginning at 6 p.m. on March 15 in the high school gym. The activities won’t end until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Students and staff members will keep busy with a dance with a disc jockey playing the tunes, a three-on-three basketball tournament, a talent show, speedball tournament. They’ll also be carb-heavy food such as pizza and doughnuts to help everyone stay awake during the overnight session.

The southwestern Pennsylvania Mini-THONS at Baldwin, Upper St. Clair, South Fayette and Chartiers Valley high schools benefit Four Diamonds, an organization funding treatments and support programs aiding in the fight against childhood cancer at Penn State's Children's Hospital.
