Grab your seeds and your Iced-Tea, its time for a softball update!!! After an exciting day of softball, a day filled with hot sun, wins and battles, Baldwin’s 15U division won their first tournament last weekend at Robinson. A total of 8 teams were entered to play, and after going 2-1, Baldwin was seeded third. Sunday, 6/30/13 began a long day of single elimination. Baldwin’s first game was against Bethel Park in which Baldwin won 14-11. In the semi-final game, Baldwin struggled but finally beat Plum in a 6-5 battle. Next, Baldwin advanced to the championship game against North Hills. After battling back and forth the entire game, Baldwin pulled out a win of 21-18. When asked to comment, All-Star Manager, Josetta Daumit stated with much emotion, “My girls played so hard for me tonight. They fought to the end, and I honestly have never been more proud and more honored to be a part of a team as I am right now. Being a female manager along with my coach, Colleen Davis, makes this victory even more special." She also stated that she was overwhelmed at the amount of support she received from the Robinson parents/players who stayed and cheered on her team in the championship game. Daumit states, “I would like to thank Robinson for hosting such a great tournament and to the parents and players who supported us in the championship game.” Good luck to our Baldwin 15U in their next tournament at Shaler next weekend!!!
