Yesterday, on December 10, 2020, Governor Tom Wolf and Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine announced "limited-time targeted mitigation orders" to help stop the swiftly-rising rates of COVID-19 infections in Pennsylvania.

In accordance with these orders, K-12 athletics and extracurricular activities have been suspended across Pennsylvania until January 4, 2021. During this time, all District athletic facilities will be closed, both to teams and to the community. (The Baldwin High School Stadium Track will remain open as previously designated)

This means that the current athletic season is suspended for Bowling, Boys Basketball (Varsity, JV, Freshman, Middle School), Cheerleading, Girls Basketball (Varsity, JV), Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, In-Line Hockey, Indoor Track, Swimming, and Wrestling.

Clubs and activities that can continue virtually may do so at the discretion of their respective sponsors.

On Monday, January 4, 2021, we will evaluate the state of the situation and address any plans to resume athletics and activities accordingly. However, resuming these seasons will only be possible if COVID-19 rates in our region decline. Please be reminded that each of us must do all we can to reduce the risk of transmission in our community.

We will continue to monitor this situation and communicate any changes as we receive them.

Sincerely,

John M. Saras

Baldwin-Whitehall School District Assistant Principal

Baldwin High School Athletic Coordinator
