The mission of the Tortoise and Hair Pittsburgh race is to raise awareness of and funds for research of alopecia areata, a common autoimmune disease. All proceeds from the race go directly to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. The race features a 5,000-meter run and a 2-mile walk. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K. Medals will be given to children under the age of 10 who finish the 5K. There will also be a number of great raffles available. Online registration ends on Thursday, Oct. 6.
