Four Named To B-W Distinguished Highlander Alumni Hall Of Fame

BALDWIN, PA - The Baldwin-Whitehall School District and Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation have announced the 2020 class of inductees for the Distinguished Highlander Alumni Hall of Fame.

The hall recognizes the significant personal and professional achievements of Baldwin-Whitehall School District alumni. The inductees will become part of a permanent Baldwin High School exhibition and will be recognized at the district's 80th anniversary gala on March 21 at South Hills Country Club

They are:

• Pam Iovino, Pennsylvania state senator representing the 37th Senatorial District (Class of 1974).

• Regis O’Keefe, MD, PhD, Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine (Class of 1977).

• Doug Strott, Founder of the Scheuermann's Disease Fund to support those afflicted with Scheuermann’s Disease around the world (Class of 1983).

• Heather Tomko, Research Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and civic activist for people with disabilities (Class of 2006).

"We can't think of a better way to celebrate the District’s milestone anniversary than to recognize the contributions of these individuals," district superintendent Randal Lutz said in a statement. "While their achievements are extremely diverse, our inductees represent one common idea - a future of unlimited potential for each of today’s students."

The March 21 event benefits the educational foundation. The district will announce several additional recognition programs, including its Champions of Character from within its schools and administrative staff. They also will also be recognized.
