Paynter Students Create Charming 2-Hour Weather Delay Video

The fifth-graders' efforts will delight parents and students alike.

BALDWIN, PA - Two Paynter Elementary School students have displayed considerable technological chops by creating a video heralding what all students typically enjoy in the winter: a two-hour weather delay.

In the charming video short, fifth-graders Ava Faust and Kaylee Leicht explain why the delays occur, refer to superintendent Randal Lutz as “the big man in charge” and also mention WPXI-TV chief meteorologist Stephen Cropper.

The project had its origins in the fall when the Baldwin-Whitehall School District received a story maker grant from the Grable Foundation. The money enables students to contribute animation to an upcoming animated “Wizard of Oz” movie.

Baldwin-Whitehall students are working with three other Pittsburgh-area districts, as well as student teams in New York and Washington, to design backgrounds, voice characters, sing, create sound effects and pupet the movie’s animated characters.
