Pittsburgh Marathon Organizers Add 10-Mile Race

Pittsburgh Marathon organizers are launching the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler, scheduled for Nov. 3.

Starting in the South Side, the course is similar to the Pittsburgh half-marathon route in reverse—minus approximately three miles—and finishes on Liberty Avenue, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Pittsburgh Marathon Executive Director Patrice Matamoros said that the 10-miler will work well with Pittsburgh's Great Race this September. Then, runners can take a break for the holidays before picking their training back up for the marathon or half-marathon.

Organizers hope that the 10-mile race will attract runners from outside of Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. They hope to have 3,000 runners participate this year.

Registration is open at pittsburgh10miler.org. Registration fees start at $40 per person.
