PITTSBURGH, PA — A candidate in a Pittsburgh-area legislative district cruised to an easy victory in a special election Tuesday.
The election in the 42nd District was held to fill the unexpired term of Democrat Dan Miller, who resigned to take an Allegheny County Common Pleas Court judicial seat.
According to unofficial results from the Allegheny County elections division, Democratic nominee Jennifer Mazzocco, 41, an English teach at Taylor Allderdice High School in Squirrel Hill, easily defeated Republican nominee Joseph Leckenby, 27, a recent Duquesne University law school graduate.

Mazzocco had 10,419 votes to Leckenby's 2,330.
