Traffic Alert: Baldwin Bridge Work Means Detours, Delays Are Ahead
Four spans along Streets Run, Glass Run roads to be replaced.

Several bridge projects will trigger lengthy detours for motorists traveling through Baldwin this year.
PennDOT plans to rebuild four spans in the borough as part of its Rapid Bridge Replacement Program. The initiative, which began in 2012, will replace 559 of the roughly 4,500 structurally deficient bridges throughout the state. Most are crossings on smaller state roadways.
The first of the bridge projects is slated to begin in mid-April, when the Glass Run Road bridge over Glass Run, about 1.5 miles from the Glenwood Bridge interchange, will be replaced. The recommended 5.3-mile detour route includes Joseph Street, Agnew Road, Becks Run Road and Carson Street.
Another Glass Run Road bridge near Carthell Road is scheduled for replacement over the summer, according to PennDOT’s website. The 6.5-mile suggested detour also includes Becks Run Road and Carson Street.

Two Streets Run Road bridges also will be replaced beginning in June. For the one at Lutz Hollow Road, PennDOT suggests a 6.6-mile detour that includes Baldwin Road, Mifflin Road, Lebanon Road, Delwar Road and Street Run Road. The 7.2-mile detour for the one near East Willock Road includes Mifflin Road, Route 51 and Streets Run Road.
