We love 'back to school time'!

As Baldwin-Whitehall’s students begin a new school year, as always, the Whitehall Public Library is prepared to provide a wide variety of programs, services, and online resources to support learning at all grade levels.

Reading is fundamental to all areas of learning.  Once a child can decipher text, other subjects and skills easily fall into place.  Young learners can increase their reading and literacy skills through the online ebook program, BookFlix, in which books come to life on the screen with movement, music, and reading.  Children begin to recognize vocabulary through the program’s interaction with the words.  BookFlix is free and available to all library card holders.

Whatever the subject or topic of study might be, Whitehall Public Library has resources to help.  A favorite starting point for research is MasterFile Main Edition. This database provides full text for more than 1,300 general reference publications.  Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFile Main Edition also contains full text for nearly 300 reference books and over 160,000 primary source documents, as well as images, maps, photos, and flags.  MasterFile Main Edition can be found through the state’s electronic resources, POWER Library, available on www.whitehallpubliclibrary.org or www.powerlibrary.org. We also welcome students anytime with homework or research questions. In addition, teachers and home-school parents, should check out our outstanding collection of teacher resources. It’s all here @ Whitehall Public Library!
