Woman's Body Found In Van In Whitehall

Drugs are believed to have played a role in the woman's death.

WHITEHALL, PA - The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office and Whitehall Police continue to investigate the death of a woman whose nude body was found in a van on Plymouth Road on Wednesday.

KDKA-TV reported the van was stopped by Allegheny County deputy sheriff Jason Tarap, who was flagged down by a motorist who saw the van being driven erratically. The body was discovered while Tarap was questioning the male driver of the van, who appeared to be disoriented.

Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus released a statement to the station saying, “This appears to be another example of the ravages of the current opioid epidemic. It was indeed fortunate that Deputy Tarap acted responsibly, and was able to prevent the incident from becoming even more tragic.”
