100-Gallon Fuel Leak Contained Before Spilling Into Poquessing Creek
Three Bensalem Township fire companies worked to control the leak after a vehicle hit a tractor-trailer Monday morning, fire officials said.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Firefighters rushed to contain a 100-gallon fuel leak that started early Monday morning after an accident on Bristol Pike, fire officials said.
The Cornwells Fire Company, Station 16, crews responded to a traffic accident at the 500 block of Bristol Pike in which a vehicle hit a tractor-trailer.
Fire officials said the collision damaged the fuel tank, which caused approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel to start leaking, and running down the hill toward the storm drains that empty into Poquessing Creek.

Dc16 established Bensalem command and requested 2 more Engines and Special services 99 from Dow. Rescue 16 and E37 began diverting the spill to a manageable location.
Engine 28 started slowing and containing the remaining fuel in the tank before an environment company arrived to clean up all the fuel, Cornwells fire officials said.

The fire company was assisted by the Eddington Fire Company, Station 28, and the Union Fire Company, Station 37
Eddington Fire Company's Engine 28 crew helped with applying oil dry and with damming and diking to contain the spilled diesel fuel that had dumped out from the torn open saddle tank in the tractor.
"The driver of the Cadillac smashed into the parked tractor in front of its business causing this big mess," the department said in its Facebook post.
No injuries were reported.
