19th Village Renaissance Faire receives Competitive Grant

Authentic faire with a cause coming this September 15 & 16

Village Library Renaissance Faire earns Competitive Grant Award

The Village Library of Wrightstown, a quaint small, one room library, has again set itself apart from all other renaissance faire's by being selected as the only one that received a competitive arts grant award. The Five County Arts Fund, Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, and PECO Energy, recognized the noble mission or providing a local community event which permits attendees to be first be entertained to their delight, educated about its history, and then involved in free interactive lessons of all visual and performing arts. Simply put, there is no other event like it- and best of all the event is designed based on community input, staffed by our community, and run by the our own community library.
"The growth and appeal of this community event is incredible" proclaims Ken Hone, "especially when one realizes that we are able to offer our community 18 dance performances, 15 musical performances, and dozens of theatrical performances daily." He explains that then library has been able to obtain grant funding because we provide a mentoring relationship where professional artists from around the country come to our faire to entertain the crowds and provide for free stewardship of our own aspiring community performers. then, to top it all off, he boasts, we offer FREE children’s crafts, the largest free interactive play area of any faire, live horseback jousting, and trebuchet catapult demonstrations all day.
When asked what is next, Hone shares that the faire committee has already met to plan next year's improvements which will seek to appeal to teens' interest in the event through the guidance of newly created teen faire council, enhanced village player training for our volunteer performers, and a humanities grant to help develop the artisans rowe are of the Living History area. Hone envisions that artisans rowe will supplement our working blacksmith with glassblowers, potters, pewter (and other metal) workers, weavers, sculptors, bead workers, casting and more. He encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to join the event as it truly takes a village for this faire. Email fairedirector@hotmail.com or call 267-304-8060.
