$50M Expansion Planned At Parx Casino

The expansion will include a 30,000-square-foot event center, two new restaurants and a poker room to rival those you'd find in Vegas.

BENSALEM, PA — Plans for a $50 million expansion at Bensalem's Parx Casino were announced Wednesday. The expansion will include a 30,000-square-foot event center, plus two new restaurants and a poker room that will rival those in Las Vegas, Parx officials said.

The project is aimed to expand the casino's appeal beyond just the gaming community, Parx CEO Tony Ricci said during an announcement that was live streamed on social media.

The expansion will include the creation of the Xcite Center, a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot facility that will host musical and comedy acts, as well as boxing events. The Xcite Center will be equipped with top-notch technology, sure to offer a "tremendous experience for both the audience member and the performer," Ricci said.

For those who enjoy dining out, there will be two new options at Parx. Lombardi's, a New York City-based Italian restaurant that serves up "the best pizza I've ever had in my life," according to Ricci, is one of two new restaurants included in the expansion.

There will also be a gastropub called The Liberty Bell Pub. It will be an upscale farm-to-fork eatery with "an exciting atmosphere," Ricci said.

The third component to the expansion will see the poker room move from the racetrack grandstand area to the main casino. Currently, the poker players are "isolated" and Parx wants to "bring them into the tent," said Ricci.

To do that, Parx plans to create "the best poker room on the East Coast," which will be "equivalent to what you see in Vegas."

Parx opened in 2006. It is located on Street Road.
