5th Grade Students at School Lane Charter School Give Back
5th grade students at School Lane Charter School gave back to their community this Thanksgiving after studying human rights.
The past two weeks fifth-grade students at School Lane Charter School have been studying the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a service-learning project, the students took part in a school-wide fundraiser to help the community ensure some basic human rights are met.
The fifth-grade students organized and ran a school-wide food drive. With the donated food, including turkey donated from a nearby food market, students prepared over 300 Thanksgiving dinners for AID for Friends Organization (Meals on Wheels). In addition, the fifth-grade alone raised over $900.00 to donate to two separate local charities, AID for Friends Organization and Helen's Angels.
