Aqua said the work will replace 5,593 feet of aging 10-inch cast iron water main with new 10-inch ductile iron water main from West Bensalem Avenue to Bristol Pike.

The project is anticipated to be completed on or around Oct. 17, according to the notice.

Aqua Pennsylvania said the $2,529,512.78 project is part of its infrastructure improvement program, which replaced more than 20 miles of aging main in Bucks County this year.

The new water main is intended to improve service reliability for customers. Aqua Pennsylvania said the replacement will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.

Construction is generally scheduled for weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

During construction, access will be provided for emergency, mail, and trash service, according to the notice. Residents will still have access to their properties, but may need to enter from different directions as work zones change.

The notice says the trench will be covered with temporary blacktop at the end of each workday. After installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before it is placed into service. During the chlorination and testing phase, activity on the job site will be limited.

Once water quality testing is complete, each water service and fire hydrant will be transferred to the new main, according to the notice. After final connections are made to mains on side streets, the old main will be abandoned. Permanent restoration is expected to follow in about 30 to 60 days after that work is completed.

Customers will be notified ahead of any planned water service interruptions, according to the notice. Aqua Pennsylvania said it will provide 24-hour advance notice for any scheduled interruption greater than 30 minutes.

Anyone with questions about the project can call Michael Staerk, superintendent of construction, at 215-659-2505.

The notice also said customers can reach Aqua Pennsylvania customer service staff and an emergency dispatcher using the number listed on the accompanying door hanger.
