Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo recently discussed the township's new First Responder Drone Program on his "Mayor's Show."

The mayor said that the drone program launched by the Bensalem Township Police Department and the Department of Public Safety is "a major step forward in how we serve and protect our community."

The mayor was joined during his podcast by Public Safety Director William McVey, and Sgt. Glenn Vandegrift to discuss how the program will enhance public safety across the township.

The program allows drones to respond to incidents soon after a 911 call is received, enabling drone pilots to reach the scene quickly and provide real-time intelligence for patrol officers responding to the call.

"This rapid-response capability is a true game-changer," officials said. "It will assist all public safety operations, help us improve decision-making, increase efficiency, and enhance safety for both our officers and the community."

The mayor said the program is made possible through strong partnerships, advanced technology, and the township's continued commitment to innovation in public safety.

Officials said State Rep. Kathleen "KC" Tomlinson for her efforts in securing state funding, which helped launch the program.
