BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Interim Schools Superintendent Victoria Velazquez sent an email to the Bensalem Township community to address threats made to schools in the region on Monday.
Velazquez said that while the school district was spared from the "swatting" call threats that others received, she wanted to keep families informed.
School districts in Bucks, Montgomery, Schuylkill, and Chester counties, and others in the Philadelphia region reported receiving threatening fake emergency phone calls on Monday, which are intended to prompt a large emergency response.
Gov. Josh Shapiro has called on the Pennsylvania State Police to investigate the school threats.
The interim superintendent said the school district's Safety and Security team is in close communication with the Bensalem Township Police Department and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
"As always, any potential threats are taken seriously, investigated immediately, and addressed in accordance with our established safety protocols," Velazquez said.
