Responding officers found the driver dead after being partially ejected from a Toyota RAV4 that had overturned during the crash.

Police said the driver had been involved in a domestic incident earlier in Lower Southampton Township. Witnesses told Action News 6 that his mother said they had argued before he took the car keys and sped off.

"His mother pulled up — that was heartwrenching," a witness told Action News 6. "She let out a cry that I'll never forget. She just kept saying he's dead, he's dead."

"He floored it, and I guess took the anger out on the car and was just driving upset," the witness said.

Another witness said he comforted the woman as she cried. "She just started crying on my shoulder and I felt awful," he said.

Police said he fled eastbound on Bristol Road at a high rate of speed.

The car crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck a Hyundai Kona, police said.

The Toyota then became airborne, struck a Honda SUV and a Ford pickup truck, and ultimately rolled over.Following the initial impact, the Hyundai Kona left the roadway and came to rest after striking a fence on Bristol Road.

Two people were injured but the extent of their injuries were unknown at this time.

The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.

At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information related to the incident is asked to contact the Bensalem Township Police Department at 215-633-3719.
